Insurance company rant

I got the renewal premium for my building and contents insurance and of course it was higher than my previous premium.
Went online and compared insurances and I could get it £50 cheaper.
I waited until my present insurance company phoned wondering why I hadn't renewed yet.
Told the person on the phone I wasn't happy that the premium always increases every year and after few minutes of discussion she told me that they will decrease the premium.
I told her I could get it cheaper from another company and also get a cuddly toy, are meerkats cuddly?, and was told that was the lowest they could go and basically if I didn't like it tough.
So I went back online today to get my building and contents insurance and after refreshing my details who do you think came up the cheapest?
Yes, my present insurance company.
So I picked the second cheapest and paid £1.11 more.
And before I get all the, is it the same cover, I don't care.
I am still paying £25 less and getting a meerkat, than if I had renewed with the same company and £50 less than if I had just accepted their renewal premium.

I'm surprised anyone is still surprised that insurance companies do this.0

Meerkats seem to be selling at around £30 each on Ebay.0

On my last renewal, the meerkat folks came out cheapest on the comparison sites, when I clicked to talk to Mr Meerkat he suggested a few (cheap) alterations to my cover and, in passing, told me that the toys were fetching at least £30 on fleabay... I was quite impressed ny the whole transaction. At times any combination of my spelling, grammar or punctuation may be incorrect. Please do not pick me up for this as, after all, it is only an internet forum.0
