Ryanair 7 day boarding pass rule

Can someone please clarify the current situation with the Ryanair 7 day rule for checking in and printing off your boarding passes?

Flight out of England is 11:15 am on Sunday 7th Dec. Will I be able to check in and print these out seven days before we leave ie Sun 30th Nov?

Return flight is a week later on Sunday 14th Dec departing at 7am. Will I be able to print these out on the 7th December just before heading to the airport to go on holiday?

So, it seems that you have to check in now for the outbound and inbound flight on different days?

Has anyone done this? Or should I just pay for a seat allocation (£5 pp) on the journey home - which means I could check-in for both flights on Sunday Nov 30th?

Please help....

I had the same dilemma in October. In the end I decided to pay for the return flights as 'select seats' options and do online check-in for those ahead of time, and check in for the outbound seats a week in advance accepting the 'allocated seats/no cost' option.

I happened to be up at one minute past midnight a week before our outbound flight, and found that I could do online check in at that time, even though our outbound flight didn't take off till midday (ie I was able to do online check-in one week and 12 hours early, rather than exactly one week early).

For me, doing it this way meant I didn't have to spend extra to do online check in for the outbound flight, and by choosing to pay for selected seats on the return flight I had the peace of mind of knowing I'd dealt with the check in for that flight well ahead of time, without having to worry about it either on the day we travelled or while we were away on holiday and having to ask the hotel to print out the boarding cards for us.

I object to it, because I think it's a money-making ruse, however as the rest of the flight was so cheap, I just accepted it as part of the overall cost. Now that I know I can do online check-in as the clock moves onto the '7 days till you travel' moment in future I might choose that option for return flights too.

Thanks to both of you so much for this. It's a question I was going to ask, but it's been answered already by you! :) I haven't flown with Ryanair for ages, so I want to seem like a pro. Never normally have this thought with BA. ;)

Thank you. It's just an inconvenience at best, and a money making venture at worst.
Here's hoping the printer doesn't let me down on the morning of the flight!

You can always print it out where you are, internet cafe, library etc.

Or use the Ryanair app on a smartphone and you wont need to print out tickets.

I may have got this wrong, as I've only flown with Ryanair the once recently, but I think I read it that the boarding pass needs to be on a printed sheet of A4. (Not an issue for me, as I only have a very old phone anyway!)

    Nope, see here:

No need to print anything, I've used it and can confirm it works fine, family party of 4 all passes on same smartphone, no paper needed, there or back.

Of course the airport Im flying to doesn't accept mobile boarding pass. So, that means paper.

I am on holiday for 10 days. So, does the 7 day rule mean I have to either pay for an allocated seat or take the chance that I will be able to check in online and find a printer while I am away?

I thought Ryanair were getting rid of petty nickel and diming rules.

look like easyjet are doing the same - i suspect everyone else will follow. Though I don't see why you need a boarding pass anyway.
Do you want your money back, and a bit more, search for 'money claim online' - They don't like it up 'em Captain Mainwaring

Take the chance? Unless you're going camping in the middle of nowhere I don't really think you'd be taking too big a risk!
