What is your weekly spend average and where do you spend it?


Our family now consists of two pensioners, main shop Morrisons, average spend £70

2 adults (42 and 53) mainly shop at Asda or Tesco.

Average spend is £110 per week including booze, toiletries and cleaning stuff.

we shop at various places to cherry pick the best buys in each--all are pretty accessible as I work at multiple sites around town.

£50 per week to include all toiletries/cleaning/food/drinks. Almost never buy takeaway food or eat out.

1 adult, 1 teenager and a 10 year old, plus our fussy cat.


I spend anywhere between £60-£100. But we buy some organic stuff, dairy free stuff and also other 'health' foods which are more expensive than normal.
That includes all food, pet food and household things like cleaning stuff.

3 adults, (one has to eat and drink at least 50% more than a normal adult), 12 yr old, dog.

Tesco - £100 to £125 weekly
Iceland - £50 a month

That seems high to me but it rather depends what it includes. I shop for 2 people and allow £50 but that doesn't include booze or any eating out as that's from 'entertainment' budget. What I'm saying is that I could easily feed the 2 of us all meals for £50 per week from Aldi and occasional bits and pieces from other stores (Lidl, Farmfoods, Iceland, £ shop, Sainsbury's) and if I needed to keep tightly within that budget or below I could. The booze and eating out is personal choice rather than essential.

Three adults and two teenagers plus the dog, about £150 per week on average, but that is guesswork!

We have a lot of basics delivered by Tesco as it saves time and travel costs, plus top up shops at Aldi and Lidl.

Difficult to say exactly as I also have things like loo roll, kitchen roll, dishwasher tablets and the like delivered in bulk, but as the average Tesco shop we do is usually just under £100, and is not every week, I guess this is an average.

The only way I would get a true figure is to monitor exact spends over several months and not got time to do that!

I already do that. I've made up a spreadsheet with the 12mths along the top, and all the various shops down the side. Then before i throw any receipts away i'll enter them up. Or to be honest i keep receipts in a little plastic bag until i've got time to enter them. You can go back year-on-year to see what you're doing then.
