Accepted for sainsburys card

I've just been accepted for the 33 month 0% balance transfer card with sainsburys. On the acceptance page it said the usual 'we are pleased to offer you x amount'
The thing I'm a little confused about is that it didn't say anything about the 33month 0% (which is why I got it) but instead said I had approx £2000+ available credit to spend.
Is this normal even though it's a balance transfer card, or have I accidentally applied for a purchase card? (Pretty sure I haven't)
Thanks

To the best of my knowledge there's no such thing as 'a balance transfer card' or 'a purchase card' - there are just 'credit cards', some of which allow balance transfers and all of which allow purchases.
The cynic would observe that it's not in their interests to imply that you can only use a card for BTs, since putting purchases onto cards with 0% BTs usually negates the 0% benefit by either incurring interest or requiring full repayment....0 -
Just don't use it at all and double check that you do have the 0%."'Cause it's a bittersweet symphony, this life

They might not stop you using the card for balance transfer or purchases but some lenders tailor their promotion rates for one function or the other.
MBNA have a card for Balance/Money Transfer which gives 0% for x months but you get no interest free for purchases which is 18% from the moment you buy. In my eyes I wouldnt class that as a "purchase card" or a card to buy stuff on even though it allows it.
Then they have a card which gives a promotion rate for Purchases of 0% for x months but you cant money transfer on it and has a shorter 0% BT period.
Then they have another card which is in the middle, no free interest period but 6.5% on everything, purchases, balance transfer, money transfers, everything.
To the OP, check the title of the card in the acceptance email. Mine doesnt detail the rates but it has the correct "Title" of the card. Then when it arrives you can check the literature that comes with it.0
