Letter from Halifax

I have received a letter from Halifax today saying despite rejected my ppi claim back in May 2012 they are now ready to reassess the claim.
Although a bit of a surprise I am wondering whether this is just a process they are doing to avoid a huge fine like the other banks have received.
Anyone else receive a letter recently??

The regulator has instructed banks to look at a large number of rejected historical complaints as they weren't happy about the way they were handled.
Yours appears to be one of those affected, though why they didn't just reconsider your complaint and then write to you with the result I know not.
Good luck.0
