You should be able to ask barclaycard to setup the DD to take the full balance each month if that is what you plan to do every month.

I make payments more than once a month to both of my credit cards due to being paid weekly. Never had any problems. Each statement period the balance is at most a week's worth.
Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.

They'll submit the DD request today (it's a 3 working day process),

Direct debit rules require a 10 day notification period. DD runs are setup well in advance of the actual date. Once set they cannot be amended.

as long as the minimum is paid, you will not have missed the payment.
but if you can afford to, and want to, clear in full each month, just set the Direct Debit to take the full amount.

Yes, the interest is 34.9%! I've paid £490.00 onto the card just now so will leave the other £10.00 on there for them to take the DD and then pay the other £5 off.

I think this is/was a bad idea - if I have understood the thread correctly, you will now have to pay interest on the full £500 for the period from the statement generation date to the payment due date.

Interest is only waived when the full balance is paid off - you will have paid off £495 by the due date but £5 after the due date, clearing the balance, but interest will be charged next statement (approx £10)

No problem with credit files obviously since the min payment was made on time

No, my barclaycard payments have been due on the 1st, 4th, 8th and 13th in the past

That's weird. Mine are always taken at a fixed point in the month, 10 working days in.

    I'd definitely recommend this.

Paying the full amount means you won't get into any confusion about which payments are getting to the account and avoids paying interest on the whole balance.
