Dealing with mould

Comments

  • I spent this weekend tackling the mould and removing all the affected furniture- I had the windows and doors open almost the whole time and the humidity reading on the dehumidifier has really gone down, so I think I do need to open windows more. I unfortunately don't have casement windows so it's difficult to leave them open but I'll try. WestonDave, I think your suggestion of picking a cold day to leave everything open is good, I think I'll be able to do that more than leaving windows open for a few hours every day, so any time it's not raining on a weekend my windows will now be open!

I also think I need to be a bit more careful of just leaving stuff where it is for a while- I pulled some stuff out of a kind of dumping corner and, you guessed it. Fortunately my new bed is very high off the floor and the new bedside cabinets are on legs rather than drawers to the floor (ooh :o) so I think it will all help the airflow.

Phill and nod, I've tried looking at the nuaire drimaster but the site is just a nightmare to navigate, I can't even find any information about how it works, let alone the price. If anyone knows anything about this I'd be happy to hear it!

I've also been looking at the Remcon system, if anyone has tried this please let me know!

Hi enchilada. I found the drimaster on ebay. Paid aprox £240 - cant remember the company I got it from, but rang them up and they were able to answer my queries. I also spoke to nuaire a few times before I purchased and after. They were helpful and not at all pushy or hard sell. It cost aprox £135 for installation. A couple of electricians installed it. I had a problem with my ceiling, so think it would have been a bit cheaper. It's also on amazon, and there are loads of customer reviews.
