Hole for downlighter too big

One of the holes for the downlighter is slightly too big and the edge around the hole has crumbled. This has resulted in the light hanging down. Is there a quick and easy fix or will we need to get someone in to repair the ceiling.

Down light converter plates designed to convert existing large down light holes R63, R80 allow more modern down lights fitting in a bigger hole etc
Only drawback if there are other down lights in room will look different ? Like these but there are plenty of other makes

Cut a out square in plasterboard normally 300/400mm (depending on support spacing) around existing down light back to joist/support either side Cut new piece of plasterboard same size as square offer up and check it fits and mark position for down light . Then in new piece of plasterboard cut hole size for down light in required position, fix new plasterboard in place fill and paint then refit down light (yes a pain but gets the best finish)

Seen some try fillers/mastic etc around existing hole but normally ends up a mess and falls out others a Piece of plywood, mdf etc bigger than existing hole fixed in place with new hole for down light cut into it (care should be taken to ensure material used around light fitting can the take heat)

Others would just remove down light completely and put a bigger fitting

Thanks brightontraveller. The larger downlight plates seem the way to go for us so will investigate that further.
