This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Morning everyone
Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x
Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.
Still dark, but looks like it’s wet underfoot and a bit misty – although it was very misty last night and it does seem to have cleared quite a bit.
DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 up and getting ready to go to work.
Dinner last night was roast chicken joint (a cook from frozen one that I had bought for Sunday but then didn’t use) roasties, mash, carrots, broccolli, peas, stuffing and gravy, was delish and clean plates all round. I remembered to get the chicken out to defrost so tonight we’ll be having chicken in white wine sauce with veg fried rice.
Was reasonably productive yesterday and got my xmas cake made and the fruit is soaking for the xmas puds – I’m hoping to make them today but I have a dentist appointment this morning and it’s for treatment so I’ll be a bit numb when I come out and a bit uncomfortable afterwards for while but it’s nothing major. I did do some washing yesterday so that needs to be dried and changed our bed so the bedding needs to be washed but other than that there’s not enough to make up a load. If I can I want to get the housework done today so I can have a more relaxed day tomorrow – my friend is coming over and we’re going for lunch – haven’t seen her since May so loads of catching up to do! I’ll need to go to do all the normal Friday jobs - go to town, visit the bank and do the food shopping in the morning so will need to be on the ball. I’d like to make a start on the wrapping of xmas prezzies too over the next couple of days – I always leave it right until last minute then have a panic I don’t have enough paper etc!
Take care x
Keep safe and well x

Hugs to RR, sorry about little dog, love the pics on FB, hugs to anyone else in need.
I woke up early this morning. I'm worried something that happened at work. I shall act on my conscience & no doubt make myself extremely unpopular, hey ho, nothing new there then!
I went round to DD2's after work again yesterday, I really hope she gets a date for surgery soon as she is really struggling at the moment. I had a lovely cuddle with 9 week old DGD, she was smiling & trying to copy my facial expressions, she's gorgeous.
Time I got ready for work.
Have a good day everyone.

Morning
No fog, just drizzle today so got to the office really fast.
Last day at work until Tuesday so need to crack on. Off to Newcastle later today for a visit, looking forward to seeing my friends again.
Having my cashew nuts and banana and got the final portion of lunchtime chicken to eat later. Much as I enjoy it I must make something different for next week.
Hope everyone is doing well.0 -

I spent two hours moving those wood chippings and have only shifted a third of it. I can't use the side gate at the moment so had to bring it through the house, you should've seen the state of the floorsI managed to twist my hip and am now limping again. I'm going to leave the rest for now, mr tru is home tomorrow so we'll get the rest shifted then.
I need to shred a load of paper for the chickens, I like to have lots of bedding ready for the nesting boxes. Most of them just lay eggs in them but a couple like to sleep in them occasionally, I always think if they're not snuggled together with the others on the perch, they'll get cold.
Our bedroom needs attention today, it's a bit dusty and has become a dumping ground – again! It's not too bad really, just a few Christmas things and lots of blankets. But if I don't sort it now, it'll get out of hand really quickly. Can't sleep in a messy room
Other than that, just normal housework this morning. I'll be stopping every hour to do extra leg exercises, hopefully it'll be back to normal by the end of the day.

Morning all,
Thanks again to you all, we laid her to rest in a sunny spot in the garden where she used to lay we will get a nice plant in the spring to put there. The house is so empty without her its really not nice, we all miss her terribly.
Off to work today dont know if its a good thing or not, on one hand it will keep me busy but on the other the clients always ask over the dog and I dont feel strong enough to answer questions yet, hey ho will see how it goes.
Not sure about dinner tonight something with chips i think, and the shopping is being delivered.

Morning all.
I remember many years ago someone posted on this site they had recently had to have their beloved dog put to sleep. He said "Its like losing one of your children". I didn't say anything but muttered under my breath "How do you know what its like to lose a child? Your talking out of your bum!" However, having my own girls I can sort of understand where he was coming from. Many apologies for that whoever you are.
I'm waiting for my Grandson to arrive for the day. I was up bright and early and the day hasn't started too well. Its bin day in my road. Its grey and wet here and I stood up my window waiting to see the bin men empty my bin so that I could run up the path to retrieve it before Grandbaby comes. I watched the truck lift it except that it didn't come back down again. It fell into the truck. I thought I was seeing things so I went out to the bin men and said "your lorry has swallowed me bin!". He told me I'd have to ring the office for a replacement.
Last night I went to the meeting set up with the council about issues regarding my area. Looks like we are having a huge chunk of derelict land bulldozed and a new Aldi built. Its not been finalized yet but should be finalized before Christmas!
No news on the Grade 2 listed building that has recently become derelict and boarded up.... but theres hope!
'Youngest' took a shine to one of my friends. Looks like he's like his Dad and likes the older woman!:rotfl:Seemed odd drinking cola whilst my 'baby' was on pints!
Oh well.
Onwards and forwards,

OH is at home today as his lorry is in the garage, we have an appointment with DS this afternoon in town so have decided we are going to have our dinner in Prezzousing tesco clubcard vouchers to pay for it so will taste even better as its free :j
Have a good day all.x0 -
Hi everyone,
So sorry about little dog Redruby. Happy birthday Sistercas' daughter.
I'm feeling tired today, I was finding it hard to get to sleep tonight, however, I have found something that helps. I plug in my audiobook (I only use one earphone most of the time anyway). I've found that it stops me tossing and turning and thinking about anything other than the book. When I lose concentration I stop listening and slowly drift off.
Only three hours at work this morning. I have been asked to go back after Christmas which I probably shall given we have DD's wedding to pay for but I shall cut down to 18 hours so That I only have to do 3 six hour days.
I can't think what to cook for dinner, i'll see if I have any chicken breasts and make sweet and sour chicken if so.

Morning all.
Don't forget to get today's mirror if you are an aldi shopper for your £5 off £40 shop voucher.
Was telling my daughter (on a previous occasion) that I was going to get the voucher for a £40 shop. She looked confused for a minute then said 'Is there a £40 shop? I thought there was only poundland and the 99p shop!' : )Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...:D:D
