BA High flight change fee

Hi hoping for some info.

Booked a flight to london in a few weeks from Glasgow. However I needed to chnage the date of the flight due to some changes in my schedule (some business related some personal to visit friends).

BA advised I am liable to pay £60 plus a fee to do this (I only need to change the outbound flight). The total was coming in at around £130. I could book a whole new flight with Ryanair (not my preference) for only £30 incl. checked luggage.

When I called BA I was informed that if I don't use the outbound flight they automatically cancel the inbound flight and for me to only use the return flight would cost me £60 plus another fee.

This seems crazy for me to have to pay again for the same flight I have already paid for.

Can anyone help?

Thanks, D

You booked a cheaper ticket and now want to know how to change it cheaply?

No sorry, theres nothing rights related here, you had the option to buy a fully flexible ticket upfront.

Comparing Ryanair and BA is like saying You should pay the same and get the same performance, comfort and speed when you buy a fiesta and a Bentley Continental.

    Never gonna happen.

you have purchased a discounted return ticket which requires you to complete the full journey in order of the flights GLA-LHR then LHR-GLA
Unlike the LCCs the flights with BA will not be the same price as 2 x one way tickets (when this is the case you can easily skip one leg and use the other) If you only plan on using the return part, BA can reprice this as a one-way ticket which may be more or less than you paid for the return
