Please help, no heating!!

Hello I am wondering what to do.

I have an old boiler which I have been wanting to replace since I bought my house a few months ago. I just mist out on the last green deal cashback which I wanted to use to help pay for the replacement.

I was told that if you wait, there will be another scheme coming along. Which last month I heard there was going to be in November, but I haven't herd anything about this and it's almost the end of November!

Today my boiler broke down so my question is does anyone know what is happening? I don't want to waste money on paying for repairs if a cashback scheme is just round the corner!

I am out most of the day and can shower at the gym and have an open fire so it's not the end of the world me waiting for a couple of weeks but would be nice to have something in before xmas!

Thanks in advance.

  • There is only a few days left of November so, something should be announced in the next couple of days if Ed Davey is to be believed.

Definitely no point to keep spending on repairs for an old boiler, it is just a false economy to keep an old boiler running. (there will prob be a couple of people, the MSE Nazi party who disagree but prob best to just ignore them).

Fingers crossed something will be announced before the weekend!

It is prob worth getting quotes from Green Deal Installers sooner rather than later. If you havent got a Green Deal Assessment already I would wait to see what is announced before having that done, and there are some changes being made on the 7th Dec but no harm in booking one in for after that date.

Worth keeping an eye on this page (link below) this is where any announcements will be made re this.

  • Hello captain, thanks for your help.

I have a few quotes from before and have an installer in mind and I still have my GDAR from last time. Will I need a new one for this new scheme if they are being updated? I will be a bit annoyed if I have to fork out again! I am getting doors and a boiler which are both recommended on my GDAR, I just hope they sill qualify for the £1,000!
