LCD & Plasma

Hi all,

I am looking to buy a new flatscreen TV for our kitchen, ideally with a fixing so that I can attach it to the wall and moveit about.

I am unsure whether to get a plasma or LCD? And any to get or stear clear off.

Any advice would be great!

Thanks a lot!

I think Plasma only start from 37 inches, don't know how big you want it?

Try avforums, there's lots of good info. on there regarding which brands/models;)

Plasma tv's have a faster refresh rate than LCD tv's so in theory you get a better picture especially when watching fast moving broadcasts e.g Football.
However picture screen burning is a problem that can occur with some Plasma tv's, this is caused when a dvd for example is paused for a long period of time(causing the screen to burn the image of the said film onto the screen)this can also happen with video games that use life bars etc.
LCD tv's are getting better all the time and are more suitable for use with DIGITAL broadcasts (they look a bit poor picture quality wise with normal terristrial (analogue) pictures.
So all in all it depends what you want to use the TV for:
    Gaming-LCD
DVD'S-LCD/PLASMA (as long as no long pauses)
    Terristrial tv-Plasma
    Freeview/Sky-Plasma/Lcd
Try doing a google on plasma and lcd tv reviews for the best ones to get.
It may be worth noting that LG and Samsung make the lcd screens for all major brands along with some components as well, so don't go Label shopping if you only want it for background use.

Is this actually true? I few of the comments on this thread suggest their just made in big chinese factories!

I have it on very good authority that the information i provided is correct , and i was purely suggesting that top brands are not always as good as lesser known names. Again it depends on how much the TV would be used and for what purpose. I am trying to offer the OP some good advise, it took me nearly 1 year to research the best TV to buy at an affordable price and believe me, it was no easy task with so many products on the market.
It's just advise take it or leave it.
