Does section 75 cover the purchase of used goods?
(for example, a used car or items from a second hand shop?)

Yes, although it's a little more complicated than with new goods. If you buy a cheap, old, worn-out car, it's hard to complain about it being cheap old and worn out.
In theory, though, retailers selling second hand goods are still obligated to hold up their end of the bargain and if they breach the contract or misrepresent the purchase you can make a Section 75 claim in the same way as if you were buying new.0 -
As Derps said, I think this will be largely to what you paid for what.
You stand a much better with a £10k car than a £100 one.💙💛 💔0 -

Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act relates to the liability of a creditor (under said act) for breaches by supplier.
It does not exclude any particular goods or services, but there are some exclusions based on they type of credit agreement entered into. These are explained in term 3 of section 75

Term 5 is also something I think many people fail to recognise(5) In an action brought against the creditor under subsection (1) he shall be entitled, in accordance with rules of court, to have the supplier made a party to the proceedings.
So it's often best to try and seek a resolution direct from the supplier first0
