Random parcels

I'm hoping someone can help me figure out what's going on. I've had some random parcels delivered today and I've no idea why or where or who they're from.

First there were three from Argos. I did place an order with them last week but they said it had been cancelled due to a high volume of orders. Out of the half dozen or so items, three copies of one of them arrived this morning, no sign of the rest.

Then came a box of about 100 jiffy bags. Addressed to me but with no invoice or anything. I know I didn't order them and I haven't got a clue what to do with them.

Then there's a random curtain pole. Now, I did order three from Argos, but this is a different style to all of them, the sender isn't Argos, there's no invoice, and it looks second hand. It's just shoved inside a random box covered in fragile stickers.

I wondered if someone's hacked on of my accounts, but then why would they send me random crap instead of buying themselves stuff? I'd assume it was a c0ck up by Argos, but that doesn't explain the jiffy bags.

So, can anyone either give me ideas as to what's going on, or ideas on what to do with 100 jiffy bags?

Start an eBay business, once 100 j bags used, quit business.

Do you live on or near the comps board? They would be so excited to be you today.

Call all your banks/credit card companies and make sure these transactions are not showing. I would also contact credit reference agencies and double check you recognise all borrowings.

Some companies make you send the first item to the billing address and will then allow you to nominate a different address. Please don't leave anything to chance.

With any of the invoices is there a invoice number as if they are addressed to you you should be able to ring them up and query how it was paid etc

Not that they are the usual sort of scam item, but just be dubious about someone phoning up to claim they delivered by accident, and will send a courier to collect.

(usually happens with mobile phones or similar)
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

It's a bit obvious! You clearly need to contact Argos.

As for the jiffy bags: if there is no return address or invoice, then just bin them, or use them. And check your bank account to see if there is any unusual activity.

  • I know there is a problem with their electronic reservations at the moment, and am wondering if your problem is some sort of off shoot of that?

I reserved 2 items last week, went to pick them up and it only came up on the till as 1 item. Lady on the till said they had been having awful problems with their reservations system.

I then received another text reminding me to pick up the missing item, under a totally different reservation number like I had placed a new order, and with new dates too.

The week before that, my friend reserved something and when she went to pick it up, the store had no record of it (despite her having a confirmation email and text).

Obviously realise yours wasn't a reservation, but it was an online order but thought I'd mention my experience in case its of any help. Give them a ring and get it sorted, but I would bet money it's just a computer problem rather than you've been hacked.

Thanks everyone. Sorry for the slightly hysterical post -I'm having a rough time right now and every knock on the door triggered another panic attack.

The first parcels with three of the same thing I can see were the Argos problems and I'll justvreturn the spares.

I've been keeping an eye on my accounts and there's no suspicious activity.

Does anyone know if Argos use drop shipping? Cos the pole came from a company I've never heard of, as did the jiffy bags. Neither had invoices so I can't contact the sender.

I think they do as I'm sure I saw somewhere (maybe in ebay) things could be collected at the local argos

Well, another box of 50 Jiffy bags came today.

I then got a phonecall from a very apologetic, and slightly embarrassed ebay seller who I bought something from last week. He somehow managed to add my address to his paypal account, and has spent the last few days wondering where his jiffy bags are, and ordering more and more of them.

He's sending a courier for them on Monday.
