Haggling with DIY Kitchens?

I've just priced up a kitchen from DIY Kitchens. We're talking about 7-8 meters of highline units, 3 meters of tall units and about 4 meters of wall unit.

Inside that are big pan drawers, integrated appliances and the fancy pull out units etc.

The total quote we've been given is around £10k. Has anyone had any experience in getting money off DIY Kitchens? I'm interested in one, but £10k is a hell of a lot of money. Works out at about £130 a unit...

    £130 per unit is bloody good!

    If that's too much for you, try removing some 'fancies' or choose a lower 'price range' door.

    £130 a unit is terrible. I got benchmarks down to less than that simply by asking for an indicative price lol!

  • DIY often have 20% off selected doors which can make a difference. If they do then strike while the ironS hot as the offer won't last more than a few days. Last kitchen I did with them was a small one as the total cost was £3,900+vat but I would have saved over £200 on the doors if I hadn't dithered......
  • Hi,

    £130 for a unit? What type of unit is it and does it have internal mechanisms and or door included for the price?

    For a 300mm wide highline unit, with a solid oak door, I would expect to pay in the region of £100

    For a £130, you should be able to get 600mm wide highline unit with a solid oak door. Go for a cheaper foil wrapped door and the price would be a lot cheaper as well.

    It's a 22mm 600mm lacquered mdf for, attached to a 15mm mdf carcass. The doors are second nature

  • For the amount of units you have mentioned, with big drawers and wireworks, 10k does not seem that bad. Try getting a quote from Betta Living (usually expensive) & Homebase & Wren (Competitive high-street suppliers) and see what prices they give. Ignore the list prices as they are absolutely ridiculous.

    do not get a quote from wren, homebase or betta living!
    Betta living =cowboys
    wren = cowboys
    homebase = closing down stores and cant decide if they want to take selling kitchens seriously.

  • BE WARNED, STAY AWAY FROM WREN.

    A quick search on here and you will see a few post of how poor they really are, I have been waiting 9 month for Wren to send me my kitchen, I still have missing doors, poor quality, and really disgusting customer service, they really could not give a ****** about customers, it all about sales sales and sales.
