AVG billed me 15 days early

Is it legal for a firm to bill 15 days earlier than the subscription expires? My AVG Tune-Up order was made 11th December 2013, and I've been billed today. AVG will say we told you we were going to bill you early (possibly an email somewhere on my PC) and you did not cancel the automatic renewal. But, is it legal to charge 15 days before the end date? Thanks.

A) Automatic renewals (Continuing Protection Service) can be set during the purchase in AVG Official Online Store.
If your AVG is set to automatic renewals, we will send you a notification to your registered email address 45 days before the current renewal date alerting you that your account is about to renew. We will bill your payment card for the renewal fee 15 days prior to the renewal date.0
