Tefal Actifry - makro

Hi everyone, have seen lots of stories of these not being very reliable and after just under 2 years mine has died - the fan seems to have gone, after it sparking and dying out I think it's beyond repair! I bought it from makro online and assume the warranty period is only a year - has anyone had any success in securing a replacement from tefal or makro, I'm not even sure who I should approach first or if it's even worth trying? Was never excessively used, only maybe once a week, but for £100 I'm a bit gutted at the thought of having to pay that again to replace it! Thanks

Approach Macro, as they sold the thing to you.
You need to read MSE's Consumer Rights guide.
Here is a short extract from that article:Know who's responsible
When returning items, beware shops trying the oldest trick in the book: saying they're not responsible for the shoddy goods and you must call the manufacturer. This is total nonsense!
If a company fobs you off by saying “go to the maker instead”, it's wrong. It's the retailer's job to sort it.
It doesn't matter if it's an iPod from a high street shop or a designer frock from a department store. If something's broken, torn, ripped or faulty, the seller has a legal duty to put it right as your contract is with it.0 -
Makro claim to sell business to business. The majority of their customers are Personal Business Users. From other threads they are not the friendliest on in warranty returns let alone post warranty. The man without a signature.0
