Primark are now selling very slim and long rubber hot water bottles; dd2 loves cuddling with it.

I saw those @Siebrie but though they might be difficult to fill with being so long? I am not very tall
I watched a programme on All4 last night that might have been on Channel 4 earlier in the week about how to heat your home. Some interesting ideas on there and some things I hadn't thought of. They looked at whether you are better to have a hot water bottle or something else as part of it.9 -
Aldi have adult fleece blanket hoodies for £9.99 this week.10

It's just very long, so it takes more water than you'd think.

Thank you @Duchess2! And Merry Christmas to all for tomorrow and also to those who've just celebrated Yule or Hanukkah or will be celebrating Kwanzaa or other holidays around this time. It's interesting that so many cultures choose these dark days to add some deliberate light and things to look forward to, though this year it looks as though we'll also be celebrating not having to have the heating on as much!
Thought, too, for those for whom this brings sad and difficult memories. I am so glad we have spring to look forward to and the spring bulbs are already through the soil and building up to bloom.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
The sun's been out and I think I’m solar powered (Onebrokelady)

Mortgage freedom January 2024 - paid off 7 years early by making overpayments where we could.10 -
I definitely noticed it was lighter in the evenings yesterday when I had my dog's vet appointment at 4. The sun still hadn't set when we came out.
It was very chilly last night. I unrolled the sleeping bag and laid it on top of the duvet before we got into bed.9 -
I wrapped up warmly and took a walk round the park in the Winter sunshine yesterday afternoon. Most of the frost had gone, I had a walking pole for extra stability. Another tree was down in the recent storm and several had been felled for safety. The ducks were keeping channels of water clear of ice round their pond.
DH got extra milk, and we have some powdered and long life milk, we make our bread and have a well stocked pantry. I shall make a large pot of soup, make sure everything is charged, and then snuggle down till the blizzard ends.
We played lots of card games and draughts by candlelight in the long freeze of 1962-63. There were a lot of power cuts, but we had a Rayburn for heat and cooking. About half of the wild birds died that winter.10
