Thanks @Laura_Elsewhere, a good reminder. I can still picture him determinedly standing out there trying to cook something. It may well have been raining, or was that just the mood? It's not coming that close to the house again.
He survived to tell the tale, though in the intervening years he's also survived other things that not everyone does, and now has a girl friend to keep him from testing the limits.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
The sun's been out and I think I’m solar powered (Onebrokelady)

Popping in to second @Laura_Elsewhere re the BBQ. The camping gas hob we have is similar to a gas hob on top of an oven, but I always open the kitchen window a bit if I need to use it, and keep the CO monitor around. Now what I really, really want is a Trangia 25.......where's that Christmas list.....

Thanks in advance

Hello All
Just popping in to say hello
Sitting at 9 degrees down here in South Wales and looking at -1 later.
I'm starting to prep a bit more for the colder weather now.
Freezer is full, lots of veg, freezing tomatoes, have strawberries/blueberries/blackberries.
I shut down the garden last week
- pulled up the last of the tomatoes and have them ripening on the windowsill
- brought pepper plants in,
- tidied away things into the greenhouse,
- weeded,
- a friend helped me cut down beside the shed,
- I just have to try and get the tarp back on the top of the shed today by myself.Husband and son leave tomorrow night to go mountain biking in Spain for a week. Thats proving to be a complete PITA because they are just so unprepared! so my daughter, myself and her friend are going to paint the living room and give that a fresh coat before the winter comes in.
Im trying my best to get blankets and things freshened and dried again ( I did it once in summer but husband insists in letting dogs lay all over them!) so doing those again too.Time to find me again13 -
A quick question does anyone have a bio ethanol fire in their front room we have a defunct gas fire place has been cut off from the meter as there was a leak under the lounge floor its beautiful solid teak parquet so we didn't want it dug up and we are looking at one of these to put in the grate but not sure about fumes/smell or heatSlava Ukraini6

We have a bio ethanol fire in our living room. It's great. There aren't any fumes or smells from it and warms the room up quite quickly. Saves having the central heating on when you just need the chill taken off. You can actually buy perfumed ethanol but we've not tried any of those.
I'd definitely recommend.
