Not sure if you’ve seen them but you just add boiling water, like a pot noodle. Can eat straight from the pot too so less washing up. The Quaker ones can be expensive but I get the own brand Sainsbury/Aldi and there’s no difference. Approx 60p each so not as cheap as a bag of oats but a lot cheaper (and healthier) than a fry up in a cafe
I’ve not tried your way so might be totally wrong- but I think I would want to try it a few times at home to make sure it works…All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

@Cherryfudge and @Laura_Elsewhere thank you for the suggestions Re: Oats. He did have a little tub - son sometimes buys them as a quick breakfast he can take to college with him or the sachets he can blip in the microwave but I do have oats in the house that I can make if I have a little more time. Husband has gone now but in the van he does have the little gas cooker and a pan so he can heat up oats or water its just weather he would be bothered too as hes not really a cook but might suggest it to him. I have seen overnight oats with a variety of flavors in them so maybe that would be an option for him too.
@-taff I think I might have to have a try at wrist warmers and also thinking I might make some for my mum too. Shes recovering from radiation but is back in work and she could wear them in the office and they wouldnt affect her having to use the computer or phone.
@Cherryfudge I do love your list of things I should have done. I think hindsight is a wonderful thing. I remember that when the snow was coming. I made sure there was blankets out to keep us warm etc, tested radiators, bled what I needed too - didn't count on the fact that the boiler pipe runs outside and froze solid as a rock because I didn't insulate it though - froze my backside off trying to throw water up the side of the house to try and defrost it and eventually had to have my son hanging out his window pouring water down the wall! It worked just enough to let the boiler kick in. Lesson learnt. although I still haven't done it. Doh!
I hope your not having too many problems from Babet though.
Well I went for a diabetic eye screening on Thursday which was an experience for someone with severe social anxiety but its done now for another year. Gave my friend a homemade macrame bag as a thank you for coming with me. She has offered to teach me to crochet at some point so I may take her up on that in return for a macrame lesson.
Then 13yo DD woke up distressed on Thursday night with ear pain = all the winter prep in my house and I forgot ear care! So it was a paracetamol, a few drops of warm olive oil in the ear and a hot water bottle and she managed to fall asleep on the sofa so I had a sleepless night worrying about her but managed to get her in doctors yesterday who said there is a little redness but no sign of infection to warrant antibiotics so she has been given a spray with an antibiotic, an antibacterial and a cortisone in it and told to take ibuprofen and paracetamol and it should clear. Seems to be helping and she slept through last night so hoping that's a good sign. Plus side is I slept like a log too!
Husband left last night to get to Southampton instead of a 4am start but it would usually take about 3hrs and took him nearly 4hrs yesterday because the M4 was shut and they had to divert through Salisbury and ended up having to circle around Southampton in a diversion. He got there about 11pm last night.
Today's plans are
- bit of housework
- going through med cupboard to clear it out/tidy and make a list of things I need to get
- and some time with the kids. Maybe a movie.

I need to lag our outside tap @sammy_kaye18, thanks for the reminder. Also de-leaf the drains... the storm hasn't affected us too badly but the leaves soon clog the drain covers when they get washed down.
Well done for coping with your appointment, it must have been a lot of pressure. I hope all the readings came out okay. Some opticians will test at home, I wonder if yours could be done that way or if there's equipment they need that's only available at their place?
I hope your daughter's feeling better soon.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

I do need some salt for the front garden and near the back door too. Only because I have two loony sighthounds that bolt out the door and broken legs is not something I need. I actually wonder if I can get some sort of matting for out there instead.
I do need to make a winter van box but we have things we keep in there so I think thats ok - just bottles of water and snack bits in case pulling over needs to happen to wait out any horrid weather.
@Che@Cherryfudge I need to do the tap too, and the pipe, and should probably put the hose away too.Making Changes To Save My LifeCurrent weightloss - 2lbs (week 1)9 -
I always freeze a couple of cartons of milk in case I can't get to the shops. You need to pour out a little before you freeze them because the milk swells as it freezes. Block any spaces in the freezer too, it works more efficiently when it's full.7

Plastic milk bottles are really sturdy and make excellent freezer containers for liquid. We use them for storing blitzed home made soups. If you ever use those little individual Benecol probiotic drinks they,re useful for storing individual potions on lemon & ginger lotions to sip if you have a cold.12

Even my son this morning is feeling congested so I expect he will start having a few warming drinks before long. Which reminds me to add lemsips to my medicines I need list because they contain paracetamol and he has really problems taking pills...2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇
