Preparing for Winter V

Hi there, I'm still catching up on this thread so apologies if someone has already asked this.
I'm thinking of hanging an odd piece of fabric (door curtain size) on the wall behind my headboard, but pinning or sewing an old single duvet behind it. The wall backs onto the garage and there's no way of insulating it that side.
I'm worried that this would end up creating mould behind the duvet - anyone got any ideas on how to prevent this? Or any other way of insulating that particular wall? Its a north facing room, so pretty nippy in the winter!Aiming to declutter 365 in 2023

Have a look at insulating board - you could use that to create a hotel-style padded headboard, but sitting proud of the wall so there was ventilation behind it.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Don't know whether you have the capability to fix a curtain rail 0onthe wall behind your bed. Then you could perhaps fit a thick curtain/blanket with bubble wrap pinned on it as an insulation which could be drawn back regularly in daytime/warmer weather so the wall wasn't permanently covered making it susceptible to damp. A duvet might work but it would probably require a stronger curtain rail?
north facing walls are always cold as they never get any sun to warm them up sadly.7 -

I'm seconding Primrose's suggestion - having lived with damp problems and in old houses, I think I would always make sure any non-standard/ non-professional insulating was moveable and try to move it out of place once a week for a whole day, just to make sure it doesn't all go mouldy... it's a LOT easier to prevent mould than to get rid of it...!2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:

I'm stocking up on tinned goods. Just a couple every Monday when I go to aldi.
Slowly putting the garden winter ready.
Blankets and throws are all washed.
Freezer full. Loads of veg from the garden and I cook double meals and freeze half.
Hinges oiled, loft checked, radiators bled service booked for boiler.
Wood store is full and hopefully enough kindling to last the winter.9 -
Hi guys
I've started conserving energy by cooking double the spuds and the uneaten half can go in the air frier tomorrow. I’ve loads of tins and packets but I’m wading my way through the fresh stuff first and leaving my next shop as long as possible. Any spare money is heading to the Xmas fund, it too early to start buying the sweets and biscuits etc cos in a weak moment they may get eaten early 😋
Its still warm here, I’ve had the windows open all day, hopefully it will carry on a little longer.

It’s definitely autumn here today, the weather is so changeable, windy and looks like it’s about to rain.Luckily I’ve loads of food in and some long life milk so I don’t need to shop.I’m recovering from surgery and am avoiding other people like the plague so I don’t get their germs so it’s reassuring that I don’t need to go out unless I want to.
