anybody else have any ?The only one I can think of in a similar vein is that we've perfected the art of doing all the washing-up on one electric kettleful, which I think is 3 and a bit pints.Ref hair, though, my Lady Wife started cutting mine giving me a buzz cut when I reached halfway-bald 25 years ago, and I started cutting hers once she reached that "I really can't be doing with hairdressers any more, just cut it short" point in her life. The amount of money and time we've saved over the years since must be considerable. We don't buy magazines either, and not having had a television since 1981 has saved us a few quid tooWe're all doomed9 -
Amazing the number of different magazines and other reading material one can peruse for free in our village library. Admittedly when you realise they're funded by Council Tax they're not really free but certainty a great facility to have.

Oh yes. My library has a Pressreader subscription and a Overdrive subscription as well, so most magazines and papers I might want to read are on there. Its very useful if I take an occasional notion to read a Scottish newspaper, which I can't get in the shops where I live in England and which are behind a paywall online. There are also some free magazines if you have a Prime subscription with Am@zon.Live the good life where you have been planted.

Si_Clist - I have been cutting my own hair for years, but as its a bit curly it's quite forgiving if I chop a bit off I shouldn't have
Been out today and bought the last of the medicines I may need over winter and stocked up on bathroom stuff and laundry stuff as well, so it's nearly all done I reckon. Xmas won't be a problem either as I allow a certain amount for each dgc and parent, and I have the money already so it's just a matter of finding something or giving their patents the cash to get something on my behalf, lazy I know but at least they get something they will like!!! That's my excuse and I'm sticking by it lol

The boiler was serviced yesterday - later than I’d have wanted as the heatings been on a month, but all gas engineers around here have a 6 week+ wait at the moment.
Winter tyres went on car 1 this morning - normally an October job but it’s been very warm so far this week. Also a good chance to visually check brakes and suspension. Fluids topped up too. I’ll need two new winter and two new summer tyres next year looking at the tread depths.
Car 2 is in for its MOT and service next week so no need to check that before winter saving me a job. After only doing 2000 miles last year it’s done a whopping 4000 this year. It just stays on summer tyres year round as it doesn’t need to be driven in bad weather.

After many years I've finally put curtains over the patio doors and the side door (front door has been done for ever)
What a difference it's made already.
We've got tinned food in already.
We have a camping stove and small kettle.
This is my first winter post retirement so if the weather turns we can just batten down the hatches.
Some very interesting stuff on this forum.13 -

- Screenwash topped up.
- Tyres checked and inflated if need be.
