Thanks @Si_Clist for the energy info. I had a look at the report that mentioned Cruachan power station. We visited there a few years ago and found it really interesting. Net zero should be possible in theory, but I'm not sure how it will work in practice.
@daz378, good to hear from you. Hope you are on the mend and don't have any long term problems.2025 Fashion on the ration

Cruachan is magic isn't it. Not sure what net zero means but if it's us living on this planet without leaving a trace then it isnt possible. We're already all going to be paying more this winter or else freezing our lugs off - to be really really green we'd have to live like cavemen. Not going to be me that's for sure!!

I don't have the funds or the space for a logburner. However, I am getting new french doors fitted in early November to replace the draughty & leaking back door & window. I also have curtains & rails for the front door & full length hall window so that will help cut down draughts. I have plenty of fleecy blankets, and a heavy woollen one ICE.
I checked my candle situation earlier and have plenty of large 8hr nightlights, but am on the last bag of small ones, 2 massive candles for when the current one burns down (probably after about 4 days of continuous light!) and a large 3-wick scented candle.
I checked my blue mini Mag torch earlier too, but the last batteries have gone into meltdown inside. It's a shame as I've had the torch for 25 years and had put a new bulb & new batteries in last Christmas, but I think it's dead now so thats something to put on my Christmas list 😉

Where is cheapest for tealights? Used to be Ikea but I can't get to one now.

probably Wilko. Is there one anywhere near? Sometimes PrimarkIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!6

Both Sainsburys and Tesco do packs of tea lights that last about 3 hours. One life - your life - live it!6

@MingVase I like Morrisons if I can't get to Ikea. If you have Home Bargains or b & m bargains they might be good too?6

I’m actually quite worried about my heating bill this Winter, last winter we were all out at work but now 3 of us are working from home a few days a week and we all walk or carshare so it’s not like we’re saving on our commute! I’ve checked and we’re on the lowest tariff. I guess it’s going to have to be hot water bottles and lots of blankets.6
