We always book the chimney sweep in now for the beginning of September as he will be fully booked otherwise. We also block book with the neighbours so he doesn't have to make more than one trip, keeps costs down for all of us6

Am using current heatwave to wash & dry all those yearly one-off heavy items that yiu can't easily dry in winter like bath & loo pedestal mats, pillows etc. At least they'll be clean once a year !!7

@pollyanna_26 there is a rain god. Well, at least, in Australia there is. The traditional cry of “Send ‘er down Hughie” can be heard there when the weather breaks after a heatwave.

Well done wort ! I'm now feeling rather smug at having got this chore accomplished. Also shampooed all the rather grubby upholstery seats on our dining room chairs which dried very quickly outdoors in the heat, so another chore ticked off my "!!!!!!'s list " !!! Think it could be ALL CHANGE weather wise on Saturday. The curtains could have done with a wash too but am noW too disableD to climb up and detach them. I always pick material I can wash gently in a low temperature in the bath, let the worst of the water drain off them overnight and then hang out to dry, so need a good sunny weather run before I attempt that operation!4

I've started hovering round eBay looking for heavy curtains for the bedroom, as nobody wants to think of buying them just now
We managed fairly well last winter, but it was mild, so I do like to think ahead and prepare our tiny little rented flat to be as cosy as possible, especially with My Intended working from home semi-permanently. I'm planning an area in the over-filled sitting-room for me to curl up with a book in the afternoons sometimes, but a lot of boxes need sorting before that can happen!2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:
January (29): winter boots, green trainers, canvas swimming-shoes (15); t-shirt x2 (8); 3m cotton twill (6);
.
2025 second-hand acquisitions (no coupons): None thus far
.
2025 needlework- *Reverse-couponing*:11 coupons :
January: teddybear-lined velvet jacket (11) & hat (0); velvet sleep-mask (0);4 -
I've also been washing the winter curtains and cushion covers. Have found a super heavy duty curtain rod - non permanent as in rental property to use across the conservatory/living room threshhold. Just need some super thick curtains now.

We've still yet to have issues with this house getting too cold (other than DH spending the last nine months on the couch downstairs with our beagle so I was actually cold up here in the bedroom over the winter!)
More issues keeping it cool!
I just love reading this thread.
DD has another identical winter coat in the next size up when she needs it as they were on offer if buying two. Need a bigger, actual school coat for DS, starts Reception, primary school in September. It's next door to the nursery so, same walk as the last three years!
