time limit on packaged bank charges RBS

In sept 13 I tried to reclaim packaged bank charges from 1995-2003 from RBS as I was sold an account which the main attraction was the travel insurance, unfortunately I was a diabetic but was never asked any questions about my medical history and I later found that the insurance was worthless. RBS rejected my claim even though I have many of the relevant bank statements from the time . They rejected it because of 'time limitation', I then went to the Financial Ombudsman(Oct '13) and last week (Nov '14) they told me that RBS had told them they wouldn't look at my claim due to 'time limitation'. The FOS are not confirming this as yet but say it is likely my claim will be rejected because of this, they asked me why it took so long to complain, I replied that until I saw Martin Lewis talk about this I had no Idea I could seek redress. But it looks like you have to complain within the six year period even though you might have all the paperwork. And so RBS get away with it once again. Thank goodness nothing happened to me during that period as my travel insurance was worthless.

Whats makes you think the FOS are likely to reject your complaint.?

That doesn't sound right at all...

If they are rejecting it on a timed out basis, the FOS will inform you of this in writing and indicate why.

Refer to the FOS website for details when they may consider complaints as timed out
