Hi,
I have just returned from my first visit to Thailand. Stayed at both the Landmark Hotel in Bangkok and Pattaya Bay Resort.

I really enjoyed Pattaya and cant wait to return early next year. I did like the Pattaya Bay Resort as it was quiet but walking distance to the action.
My last visit was only 9 days in total and stayed in a mini suite.
I would like to stay for a month next time. The Pattaya Bay Resort does have monthly rates but just wondered if anyone could advise on alternative accommodation for a months stay. Maybe a Condo or something around Pattaya but away from the noise?

Pattaya is an awful place. Where is the 'action'?
If Walking Street and surrounds....
The Monaco Residence has Studios for 17k and One bedroom apartments for 30k. 40 sq. m. and 80 sq. m. respectively.
Penthouse, if available, is 55k and 150 to 180 sq. m. The Penthouse would be the one for me if I were to go to such a place.

I know the details as I did the research earlier for a Russian friend who wanted the same.
I prefer the islands.
Other options to include: Diamond City Place
Tycoon Place & Tycoon Suites Old and new building respectively. Alternative website
Inn of the Golden Crab
Below this is Yensabai Condo, at 12.5k to 14.5k per month. Rooms around 39 sq. m.
PBR does seem overpriced. 45 k for a 'Mini Suite'. I pay that for my place on the beach on the islands.
Though if you are looking to impress: View Talay Six
I did a lot of research....0 -
I am just back from 2 months in Pattaya. Stayed at View Talay 6, cost 30,000 baht per month which is expensive for a condo in Pattaya. You should consider booking a hotel for say first 3 or 4 days then check out hotels and condos for the rest of your stay once you arrive. As I recall, PBR is right next to VT6. On the lobby floor of VT6 there are many agents advertising condos, but you may pay more (say 2000 baht per night) if you are looking at a short stay (3-4 weeks). But you will get a look at your room before you commit.0

It's not even close.
I've already posted a link to VT6. The rental office within the building is here0 -
My mistake. The one next door is the Bayview Pattaya. There are quite a few different agents offering condos for rent, all located on the ground / lobby floor of VT6. Most condos on the North / Central Mall side are likely to have a poor view. South side is best for view and a little more expensive.0

You do know that 'condo' is the whole building, don't you?
I don't see the point of wasting money for three or four days in renting a hotel room, only to have to move again, three or four days later.
Plus to spend three or four days of your holiday looking for an apartment.
I suppose if something is repeated over and over again...some people might take it as gospel.
View Talay 6 is not bad, though often not great value. £1200 per month for a one bedroom apartment, to stay in that awful town is not great value.
Of course some are happy enough to stay in one room apartments for £600 a month, especially as that is a lot less than the hotels next door.0 -
Thank you everyone for your replies.
I have changed my mind and now will be staying in Pattaya for one week so will stay again at Pattaya Bay.
But I will be travelling for a week on Ko Samet Island. Please could someone advise on a nice hotel in this area. Nice but not too expensive?
I have looked on tripadvisor and some seem very expensive. Im not sure how much I would need to spend for a nice enough hotel for my girlfriend and myself.

Koh Samet is close to Bangkok and Pattaya: the main reason for going there is that the journey from the city is quick and cheap. If you have an entire week to spend on an island then it would make sense to go a bit further...
I went once, for a few days, and really enjoyed it. No need to book a hotel in advance: just get there; wander round the area with all the accommodation and pick somewhere that you like.0
