STOP 0x0000007E error

When I switched my laptop today morning it came up with a blue screen showing an error

STOP 0x0000007E (…,…,…,…)

I tried switching off and starting in the safe mode then also I’m getting the same error.
I'm running win XP prof.

Can anyone please guide how to sort this problem?

Thanks in advance

    some ideas
can you go back to a previous restore point.?
can you boot off windows cd and then run diskchk?

try unplugging hardware incase one is causing an error

maybe installing windows over the top.

does it give more info in the error message?

check to be sure adequate disk space. If driver is identified in the stop message, disable the driver or check with the manufacturer for driver updates.Try changing video adapters.

Check with your hardware vendors for any BIOS updates.Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable compenents, restart your computer, press F8....

    To run chkdsk...
    1) Insert WinXP CD
    2) Click "R" when prompted to (so you can go into recovery console)
    3) Type in Chkdsk c: /f /r
    4) Once completed, type in exit and remove Windows CD.

(You do not need the origional WinXP instalation CD... any will do)

Refering hardware such as RAM modules (have to open up PC to remove these)... try to turn off PC, and remove both of them (or however-many you have and try to startup). Remember which way they slotted in... which one went in which slot (to prevent yourself from making the problem more complicated)

What's the make and model of this laptop?

It could be a memory problem. If it has a built-in diagnostic tool, run that to check memory. Otherwise download Memtest86+ Pre-Compiled Bootable ISO (.zip), burn to CD-R (using Burn Image feature of your CD burner software) and boot from the CD and let it run through the tests.

My laptop is DELL Inspiron 6000

I ran the system memory test using diagnostic tool. It reported no errors.
I also run the extended test using the tool, it didn't report any errors.

Not getting any clues where the error is
