Family Building Society - Trading name dispute

As many members already know Family Building Society is a trading arm of National Counties Building Society.
The revelation of a dispute came about as follows:
Reading the SGM leaflets concerning the proposed merger between Family Assurance and Engage Mutual.
I am a member of both mutuals so receive different sets of leaflets.
There is a mention in the Engage Mutual leaflet : Trading Name. and I quote (hence the long winded statement) :
Family Investments has iniated legal proceedings against a third party in respect of the use by that party of the trading name "Family Building Society".
I did not see any mention of this in the Family Assurance leaflets.
Memories of Apple and which company can lay claim to any general word .. even Virgin?.

I look forward to Yorkshire Bank (founded 1859) opening a dispute with the newcomer Yorkshire BS (founded 1864).
As far as I am aware Abbey Life was nothing to do with the Abbey National Building Society but they co-existed. Lloyds Bank and Lloyds of London?0 -
