Hi
Been awarded Standard rate for both components do I have to apply for severe disability premium or will it be added to ESA automatically?
I don't drive but could I claim 50% discount off my partners road tax?

To benefit from the road tax exemption... You would have to be in receipt of the Enhanced rate for mobility. I have never heard of a 50% discount, maybe someone else is able to help there. Also the car would have to be registered in your name or you nominated drivers and the car used just for your purpose and not for their use. If you are entitled to any premiums you have to inform them yourself as these benefits are not linked ..0 -
Great news. There's criteria to claiming Severe Disability Premium and is awarded only to someone who lives alone (unless their partner claims DLA/PIP too) also no one must be claiming Carers Allowance for you. If your partner doesn't claim DLA/PIP then there's the Carers Allowance option but to claim this the person mustn't be earning more than £102 per week and must be caring for you for 35 or more hours each week. Car tax you can claim 50% reduction because you claiming Standard Mobility but the car must be registered in your name.78fromrogers wrote: »Hi

You can claim 50% reduction in road tax if your partner drives you everywhere. The reduction only applies for those in receipt of standard rate mobility.
If you have enhanced mobility you don't have to pay car tax.Everything I know, I've learned from Judge Judy.

Despite the list given in a previous post it is much more complicated than that.
What passported rates are you talking about?
What do you want to apply for?0 -

Here is a link about the premiums

You won't get the severe disability premium if you are living with family.
If you look at your ESA award letter it should tell you what premiums you are getting.
If you are worried then go to CAB for a benefits check.0
