Hi,
I got married a few months ago, in my wife's country of birth and have received quite a few wedding presents in cash in Euros.
How do i convert them to pounds and deposit it to my account without being accused of being a drug lord or anything? (we are talking about something just under 10,000 euros not 1m)
I dont intend to get married again next year, so this is a one-off
Thank you

You make a list of the names and addresses of the donors and the amounts given, then convert the euros to pounds at the place that gives the best rate, then pay it into your bank. If anyone asks, show them a copy of the list. The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0

Maybe too late now since it was some months ago, but best way would have been to deposit it in one of your wife's accounts in her birth country (she didn't do anything stupid like close them did she) and then use transferwise or currencyfair to send it over.
That's if you are short of money, otherwise just keep it in Euros and use it the next time you go to visit (or speculate on forex)0 -
