Tuesday 25 November - what small DFW things will you do today?

Options
When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym .

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :money:

    Morning all,
Another quick post as am limiting my screen time this week. Today I will:
*Use heated airer to dry laundry (washed overnight on cheap tariff)
*Save a bit more energy by sharing bath tub & keeping heating off till this evening.
*Freeze the chicken stock I made yesterday.
*Rubber chicken Mark 2 - chicken salad, jackets & home made coleslaw.
*Tackle more of the apple glut by making another big batch of braised red cabbage with apples in slow cooker for freezer.
*Start off another batch of apple & cider jelly - with scotch bonnet chillies?
*Make apple & cinnamon compote for porridge.
    *Make bread.
    *Make tomorrow's packed lunch.
*Knit more of the gift I'm working on.
*One poll surveys, hopefully, as am getting near to cash-in.
That will pretty much be my list for today. Have a good one, all.

Morning all - Short list for me as I'm going shopping today so there will be some planned spends.

Thanks to Bob I'm going to double up some of my Nectar points today - the offer ends tonight! Was thinking of getting a clothes voucher as I need some new work trousers (one pair is now too big - hurrah!). But as Martin is predicting another 25% off Tu clothing in December, I'll do some maths to make sure I get the best deal.

Will be having (cheap) lunch out and breakfast and dinner from stores.

Achieved my planned no spend days yesterday. Aiming for two more before the end of the month.

Going to do some meal planning ahead of payday. Was pretty pleased with my food budget spend this month, but there are still things in the fridge I haven't used that may be past their best. So annoyed at myself!

    Happy Tuesday everyone!

    Morning all :)

Hope your plumber turns up and fixes the heating Ziggy!

I have to wait in for a delivery today (I have succumbed to a new breadmaker as mine died a while ago and I am tired of having to go to the SM every couple of days to buy bread). The temptation to buy other stuff is always there. I don't often have the freezer space available for bulky and fairly low value things like bread, as we grow lots of fruit and veg, batch cook and tend to buy meat in bulk. So, a shiny new Panasonic will be mine :D I got one on ebay from Panasonic's official page where they sell manufacturer refurbished machines and those with damaged packaging. Mine has a broken box apparently, and a 1 year manufacturer's warranty. I got it for £40 less than the usual price. Well, it arrived when stated and seems ok. I am making a granary loaf as we speak :D

So, I need to find lots of indoor based things to do today:

    * Check banks Done
    * Heating on timer only in bathroom, airing cupboard and loft conversion Yes, as usual
    * Light woodburner as late as possible - not too bad in here atm OH lit it at about 4pm
    * Fold washing from airer and put in airing cupboard to finish off Done
    * Meals from stores Done, used up some items from the fridge so pleased with that
    * NSD, apart from breadmaker of course - but I have already paid for that :oNothing spent
    * Clean stairs, landings and bedrooms Done
    * Cook some HG beetroot to go with salad tonight Done
    * Sort out some items to take to sales unit once parcel has been delivered (or later in the week if it doesn't arrive till late) Done
    * Read meters and subit readings online Done
*Check date of next dental appointment and note it on the calendar so I don't miss it Done

I am sure I will think of other things once I get going :)

Hope everybody has a nice day :)
  • Morning all!

Thanks to ziggy for starting us off

Bobarella - I only had 8 bags of coins, so it's not too bad, I'll drop the others off today :)

I'm sorry if this post comes out with funny formatting. It doesn't seem to want to play ball today?!

    Quick list while at work...
    • B/L/D from stores
    • Charge phone in work
    • Check online banking
    • Take other coin bags to bank at lunch
    • Make bread that I didn't make yesterday
    • Flylady mission of the day

Think that's me, I'll add more laters

    Have a good one all

  • Hi Twiggy,

Flylady.net is a website that has a housework system. It's a bit American and I find it a little patronising in places, but I do like the premise of the system.

The idea is that you have a morning, afternoon and evening routine each day and a basic cleaning routine over the week. Then each week you focus your deep cleaning efforts on 1 room. Each day, the website tells you a mission for that day. The missions are designed to only take about 15 mins each.

There is a flylady thread on the OS board if you're interested. There used to be a sloblady thread too, I assume it's still going :)

I actually have a flylady app on my phone that helps me keep track.

Thanks carrielovesfanta - I'll check that out as I'm terrible at keeping on top of everything during the week and normally just blitz everywhere at the weekend and then don't feel like I've had a weekend!

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
    Hi All

Its a cold one here today. But its pay day!!! Whoop de doop. Party over here etc.

I have just paid the mins on the cards, just over, plus the £13 I had to spare due to the insurance being paid up, off the cards. My next move is to wait for my first wages to arrive (its OHs pay day which is the main reason for partying) then I would like to pay off another £406.79 by the end of December.

Another good thing is OH got a small tax rebate today of £210.79 as they had him down as getting medical insurance that he wasnt. Only took him a year to notice...

Right I have to run. Need to get to the supermarket for supplies. Am baking a ginger loaf with lime icing for the school bake sale, and was hoping to make our christmas cake today as well. Back later!
