Special offer from L&G Insurance to MSE users

I bought L&G Home insurance in August this year because they were offering a Karcher K2 Pressure Washer, worth £79.99 if you bought it before 31st October 2014. I was assured by email that this would arrive 75 days after my policy started, which means it was due on 12th November.
When I contacted the Customer Contact Department this week, asking where it was, week commencing 24th November, I was told that the marketing department had not dispatched it because I was not eligible because I had not bought both home AND contents insurance. They have sent me a copy of the PDF which shows in BIG LETTERS at the top and down the side, with an image of the Karcher washer: 'EXCLUSIVE HOME INSURANCE OFFER FOR MONEYSAVINGEXPERT USERS' and down the side with a picture 'FREE KARCHER K2 PRESSURE WASHER RRP £79.99 WHEN YOU BUY HOME INSURANCE. In much smaller letters, they have written: 'Buy a new Essentials or Extra buildings and contents insurance policy before 31st October 2014 and you'll get a free Karcher K2 Compact Pressure Washer RRP £79.99.'
I have suggested that they should keep to their offer, as I have an email confirming that I will receive one but their response was negative, with the PDF attached.
It seems very misleading to me. The advertising leads you to believe that you are entitled to the free gift if you buy HOME insurance. I checked this and for this reason only, bought the insurance from L&G. I also note that they did not bother to email me and explain this but waited for me to contact them. Is this not a case of misleading advertising and can I press them to supply me with the washer?

This is what was stated in the weekly email regarding this offer:-
A) ....use code KARCHER2 to get an Essentials/Extra buildings & contents policy, and after 75 days you get a K2 pressure washer (RRP £80).
...did you buy a building and contents policy?0 -

I'm normally the first person to say "well you obviously didn't read it"
However if the advert was as the OP insists (I.e. big thing saying you get this free - with some small terms at the bottom saying only with home and contents..) then that could be a case for the ASA, although I doubt anything would come of it this late down the line0 -
From what I remember, it wasn't particularly small print, and it wasn't at the bottom . . .
Scary that anyone buys house and/or contents insurance (or any insurance for that matter) by just reading the headline:eek:0 -
