Santander "acceptance guaranteed" letter, what's the limit?

Options
Today I received a letter from Santander offering me guaranteed acceptance for their 18 month 0% purchases credit card (offer at http://www.santander-products.co.uk/novpurchase )

Can anyone help me decode what would be the credit limit if I apply for the card? The codes next to my details are:

7785
6201****/02P6/05GM
OPCNOV14
PUR/018
6201****

Thank you very much.

  • If it's guaranteed acceptance, then it could be very low.
  • I got a letter also. Applied and accepted. Should know the limit within 3 days.

Do you happen to still have your original codes so we can figure out which one indicates the limit?

I'm afraid that letter has been torn up and put in the recycling. Its too cold to go out and get it!

Are you certain those codes relate to the credit limit? Surely the limit depends on the information (salary etc) you provide on the form?

Those codes look pretty similar to the codes in the letter you sometimes get when you apply for a credit card and the issuer sends you a letter requesting your signature. The credit limit is usually encoded in the codes included in such letter.

My bet would be £1,800 (PUR/018) but I'd like to know in advance before actually applying to decide whether I want to do so.

    You'd lose your money! That's the offer code...PUR(chases)/0(%)18(months). ;)

Why? Accept their invitation and if the limit is insufficient don't take the card, ie exercise your right to close in the 14 day window. Since there's no credit search no 'damage' is done.

    Hi

I received the letter and applied on-line. They came back by email with the confirmation of acceptance in about 2 hours! I'm already a Santander account holder (although main account with another bank) and it was instantly set up in my online banking profile with a £4,200 llimit.

simeyb, does the £4,200 limit resemble any of the codes in the letter you received?
  • I got a 3k limit.
