Advice needed on upgrading boiler.

!Advice needed on upgrading boiler.

Hi everyone.
I currently live in a 4 bed detached house, I have a powermax 155 boiler which is currently D rated with efficiency of approx 80%. My current gas and electricity is approx £95 per month with gas approx £60 per month of this total. I am seriously considering upgrading to an A rated boiler and I have been told this will cost in the region of 2-2.5k. Now another thing to consider is that I am currently in the process of a divorce, I will be keeping the house in question(it has already been valued). Any money I spend in the current situation will have a 50% discount, if you know what I mean! So bearing these points in mind, I would be grateful if any experts in this field would be able to answer the following questions:

1. How much does an uprated boiler add value to a value of a house( in % of money spent or £ terms)

2. If you were in my shoes would you upgrade the boiler?

3. If answer is yes, what boiler should I consider, who should I consider employing and any other tips?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

    1. In theory it should, but in reality prob not a lot.

    2. Yes I would

3.Hold out for a couple of weeks there is a non-means tested cashback scheme coming which should knock off about £1k off the installation cost. For this you will need a Green Deal Installer which can be found by searching the green deal participants register.

With only £720 spent on gas each year and the relative efficiencies you quote you'll only save about £70 per annum. Even with your ex- and the taxpayer chipping in, it'll take many years for you to re-coup your costs - for ever if you include depreciation. Might be different if the current boiler is on its last legs.

As for the property value, I agree with captainhindsight.
