Paid twice, help!

Afternoon all, I've just been into our local Tesco to the Pharmacy to collect hubby's prescription that he left in last night. The cashier said he hadn't paid ( he usually pays when he drops it off but not always) so I paid by debit card. *They usually write paid or to pay on top of the prescription - today's was blank.
Got home & hubby says he paid by debit card too! Now I have my receipt from today but typically it's our bin day & he emptied all the bins including the one with his receipt in it.
I'm presuming I can show cashier my receipt and a print out of bank transaction as hubby's proof, but our debit card payments don't show up for a few days, is there any way I can get a refund before this please? Thanks

Have you called the pharmacy and had a chat to the manager?

I think you'll have to wait until you can prove you paid twice.

You seem to be asking "can I get a refund without showing them that I have paid twice?"

You will have to ask Tesco for their answer on that.

Thanks both, just spoke with them - if I can take in my statement tomorrow they will refund, they did kindly offer to call the member of staff who took the initial payment to ask if he remembered the transaction though, so that was very helpful of them.

Cant you just call the bank, surely they can tell you instantly without messing about getting a statement sorted out?
