Received 2 refund cheques

From an energy company last week for money they'd held onto years after I moved to a new supplier

The cheques have different numbers but are for the same amount.


Morally, I should shred one of them - but what would you do?

Bank one and not the other or if you wish to try it on then bank both and move the funds from the 2nd cheque into a account that you will not use and wait the allocated time scale before they cannot claw it back, Not sure off hand what this is but the other way round is 6 years without contact.

Count it as interest on the money they took so long to refund to you!

Bank them both -as they are cheques they can't claw it back direct from your account anyway -wait til they write asking for the money back or one of the cheques is returned unpaid. A bit of compensation for hanging on to YOUR money for so long!!
Currently most of the Utility companies appear to have massive problems with their billing systems so probably unlikely they will notice
