Afternoon craft enthusiasts!
I have recently bought 4 plain teacup and saucers (£5.19 in Argos at the moment, plus I used a £5 voucher so they cost me 19p!) and i'm looking to make candles for my friends for Christmas., planning on using Sharpie pens to personalise them on the outside
Wondering if anyone has made these before as i'm getting really put off with the different waxes, colours, smells, moulds, PRICES! Does anyone have any recommendations or any tips they would like to pass on?
Thanks in advance

If you're making teacup candles you won't need moulds.
If you're only making a few you can probably buy wick by the meter and melt a few nice smelling candles that you like the colour of....
You'll need to top them up but when I've made them before I just used some super cheap tea lights that I liked the smell if.
Use a ban Marie style pan so the wax doesn't catch fire and hey presto.
I even made a few that had different wax stripes in with the dregs of waxes I used.... They didn't really show though as the wax just melted in a puddle.

my daughter did this for some xmas presents a few years ago using vintage cups and saucers from charity shops. my only advice would be to not glue the cups to the saucers.
she used very good quality glue but after a while it stopped sticking and they would come apart. I have noticed that in the craft shops etc nowadays they are never glued together.0 -
I bought 4K of various coloured/smells candle wax off EBay, it cost me about £15 delivered. They also sent me wick and the metal discs.
As for decorating the cups, I've read that normal sharpies aren't great - I'd either get the oil-based sharpies, or get some proper porcelain paint pens. That's what I use. They're from Baker Ross and cost £10 for a pack of 5 in various colours.LBM 14th November 2014 - Total debt £8,852.54
