** fidelity open world fund

Hi

Would be thankful for some advice on this.

I have 50,000 Sterling with Fidelity (International Fund). I am an Irish citzen so can no longer pay into the fund and it is just sitting there. At the end of November Fidelity are closing this fund and moving the monies into a new fund called OPEN WORLD FUND. I just wonder in my case should I take the money out or let it get invested in the new fund ?

Some say better to drip feed into a fund ?

In this case FIDELITY will just move the complete money over for all investors in FIDELITY international. Just wondering what to do !!!

THANKS for any tips

  • Hi
It is savings I built up over the years and now just sitting there for a rainy day...just wondering if OK to let FIDELITY move it to this new fund or should I start to take it out.....as I said the money wont be added too anymore (as I am not in UK) so now its like savings....Fidelty allow us to say yes or no but wont advise either way..............THANKS

Whether you want to cash it in now is up to you. If you do, what would you then do with the funds? If you wish to remain invested, then the choice of investment depends entirely on your own personal circumstances - everything from age, risk tolerance, tax status, retirement plans, other investments etc....
  • THANKS......but want I want to really know is would you see any issue in letting Fidelity simply move the cash to thier new and "supposedly" better fund........the OPEN WORLD FUND they claim is better than old fund and they pay all transfer charges etc....just wondering if its ok to let them move it.........the old fund did, the new one is "Investment Objective: Fidelity Open World Fund Fidelity PathFinder Freedom 5 Net Accumulation Share Class
The Fund aims to provide long term capital growth from exposure to global markets, mainly in equities. "

There's no issue in letting them move it. Presumably you're at liberty to switch funds any time you want, so the real question is whether there's another fund more suitable for you and you buy that instead. Does this below look like a fund you'd want to invest £50k in? Does it complement any other investments you hold?
