First Bus users: Have you used your mobile as a bus ticket yet?

Options
If you have, how did it go?

Check out the First Group press release

To do it, it says

"Paying with Barclays Pingit on First Bus is a simple, safe, secure and fast process. To use mTicketing customers should download the ‘First Bus Mobile Tickets app’, which is available for free on App Store and Google Play. They then register, select the ticket they want and navigate the secure payment system. Once the payment section is complete, bus tickets live in a virtual wallet. Customers activate the ticket when required and to board the bus simply show the driver their ticket via their mobile phone screen. Repeat users need only select the required tickets and confirm their debit/credit card’s security code."
Could you do with a Money Makeover?

No but I use something similar on Lothian Buses and Edinburgh Trams. You but a set of tickets in advance and activate them just before boarding. Saves messing about with change but still not as good as Oyster/contactless card payments.

Sounds fine at 7-8am when your phone has been charged overnight. Come 5-6pm when your smartphone battery is shagged...

  • I have used it for monts since it was first released. I live in Worcester and my daughter was at a school that was at least 2 bus journeys away and I first bought my weekly tickets and then monthly. Never had any issues and perfect when I need a day rider now and I have no spare change on me.
