Vet Charges for Filling in Insurance Claim form

Options
Hi All,

Just a quick question, if anyone can answer that would be great.

Our lovely old (ish) moggie has just been diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism and is now on meds so will hopefully recover soon. She's going to be on these meds for life unless we have surgery I'm led to believe so I was wondering about claiming on the insurance.

My main question is around the vet charge for filling in the claim form (£10), which is fair enough, time is money and all that, but I was just wondering whether that charge also gets accounted for in the claim.

If not I'll be better off waiting until I've built up a load of bills and claim for the lot, only paying one admin charge. Thankfully she's insured up to £7000 for each condition so there's a way to go before we start having to pay full price for anything (we have to pay 20% as well as the £50 excess because of her age).

Thanks in advance..

Not sure if you can claim the admin, check your T&Cs - but also check if they have a time limit for submitting claims, many now give you around 30 days or so to claim so you wouldn't be able to save forms up.
  • Thanks for that...

The 30 day claim limit worried me so I had a trawl through the small print.....

I found the two lines that relate...
We do not cover the cost of obtaining receipts, invoices or reports required as part of the claim.
If your vet is treating a condition that is going to require long term treatment, please send us a claim form completed by you and your vet along with all the supporting invoices within 60 days of the treatment starting and then send us claims for ongoing treatment every 3–6 months
    .

Annoying as £10 could actually make up a significant amount of some claims, especially after paying the excess and 20%... :(

Thanks for putting me onto the time limit though.... I did speak to them earlier about the claims process before I remembered the admin charge and they didn't mention this 60 day limit at all...
