    Hi all!

Sorry I went AWOL this weekend! Saturday started off well, but once I met my a friend for "a" drink, it all went out the window. Bit disappointed but I've done so well all month that I won't be too hard on myself. Just annoyed I used my card when I've avoided it all month! However, there was money in the bank and its better than using the CC!

Plus its pay day tomorrow so the damage wont last too long!:j

    Today I have/will:-
    1. Check banks
    2. Lunch from home
    3. Fill water bottle up at work
    4. Earn 100 SBs
    5. Earn £1 on OnePoll
    6. Sort out washing on airer (this seems to constantly be on here but I promise its always different washing but living with two builders I seem to be fighting I never end battle to reach the bottom of the washing basket!)
    7. Look at budget and create pots for the month and work out how much to pay off debts
    8. Must find out paperwork to cancel phone insurance!
9.Make voucher to go in with my mum's xmas present
    10. Wrap mum's xmas present
    11. Decide what to get everyone else!
    12. Charge phone in the evening rather than leave it on overnight
    13. May start writing xmas cards as I'm seeing some friends this weekend
    Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
    Current debt - £5,935.00
Total paid off - £9,665.89 (61% paid off)

    3. Have used up portion number 3 of 6, of the beef mince YS haul from the other night (got £19 worth of Aberdeen Angus beef mince for £4.55 in Tesco) with that & the above I have cooked a chilli for tonights dinner. Dinner 1 was Shepards Pie, Dinner 2, Spag Bol, & tommorow will be lasagne. Then Im stuck :) Any mince suggestions.

Am a teensy bit jealous too:rotfl:, what about

    Minced Beef Wellington
    Minced Beef cobbler
    Moussaka
    Cannelloni
    Stuffed peppers or tomatoes

  • FAILED today. Could not face another banana sandwich, soo cold, so went to cafe and had a slap up roast turkey lunch for a £5.

So not the NSD I had planned. However I have done loads and loads of work, masses on getting new business which always makes me feel good.

So onwards and upwards! I think my office is so cold it is hampering productivity..Today is a real MSE struggle of a day.

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
Thanks for all the suggestions everyone re the mince. It was a nice surprise and has certainly helped Decembers food bill in week 1. I am thinking I'll go with burgers & mousakka.

Ziggy - I feel all warm from your beef mince envy...Your family gathering sounded like a brilliant occasion. I know my mum would sympathise regarding the helping the eldery parent thing as she is an only child & the amount of stress shes had this year regarding Gran has just been off the scale. Is there a way to tactfully ask your other rellies for more practical help with your Mum?

Maria - Welcome back, hope your conference was good. Your turkey roast sounds delicious. And if you cant have the odd treat frankly whats the point??

Carrie -I normally just use coin star at Sainsburys for bags of change, but and I am not at all wagging my fingers, this is my whole point in the ammassing of change in the first place, if it was just spent in the shopping a few pence at a time it helps at the time & no counting up hundreds of musty coppers etc etc. Lecture over :)

Dawn -I see we are thread buddies again over on the GC. Its quite addictive isnt it. I find myself wandering around thinking I must tell the thread I just spent 5p :)

DD265 -You have made me laugh with your descriptions of sleeping bag wearing at home. And yet I have an evil glint in my eye and the thought of yes we still can keep the heating off if only we take to wearing sleeping bags around the house :) TBH I think if these cold nights continue I will put it on. I am hoping to get to December 1st now, but tonight its very cold out now.

Ratison - Nice Nectar savings there. Doesnt the double up end very soon?

Foxgloves - I was so impressed by Mr F's bargainacious jeans at the weekend (one of the things that got lost in my post yesterday) thought I was doing well getting Mr Bob a pair for £15 (using a £10 off introductory offer in Next)

Twiggy -I am going to ask Admin for a 'twiggy is being harsh to herself again' icon. Your only human. So no more beating yourself up for having a night off. OK!!!! (say yes bob)

Oh and found another 7p on my way to collect my son. Plus stopped into the library & borrowed two DVDS for free using our loyalty points.

I can see how it could work if you were doing something seated, such as working at a computer, reading or watching the TV. Moving around would be a bit like taking part in a sack race though.... wouldn't it?:rotfl::p

I speak a bit from experience here. When I was a PhD student, the house we were living in was FREEZING, and I would often sit at the PC wearing layers of clothes, an overcoat and a sleeping bag huddled against a useless radiator that cost a fortune to run and did almost nothing....

Ha ha bobarella! But I didn't even use an angry face this time!

I love how you take the time to respond to everyone! You're a true MSE superstar! I can't put smilies as I'm on an iPad so insert the angel smilie here!

  • I agree, thank you Bob. Sometimes it is more difficult than others. The support is great.

Done a wash and it is hanging on the rack, even better than cheap electric is no electric.

Woodburner is lit and roaring and I am still cold. No central heating on, but house is so small the wb is usually enough.

Ate from fridge tonight, so that is an achievement of sorts. Tomorrow I will be whizzing - I hope. Goodnight all.

DawnW- Had to smile re your Arctic student house experience. Ditto! The 1st house I lived in when I did my BA was appalling! Huge 7-bedroomed Victorian pile of decrepitude with no heating. We had a small two-bar electric fire in each room. One day, we got back to find the landlord just letting himself out of the door clutching a bundle of electric fire bars. He'd nipped in while we were out & removed a bar from each fire so he'd have some 'for spares'!! Oh, the tales I could tell about him! He made Scrooge look positively generous! By the time I'd got a place to study for my Masters, I had found a flat with radiators & was so determined to keep it, I commuted in each day for lectures, even though I had to get up at 5.45a.m, rather than risk another dodgy ice-cube of a student house!

I managed - thanks to Mom who offered to get what I needed from the supermarket as she was going anyway - a no spend day. Job well done
