Lets-connect scheme NHS

There is a salary sacrifice scheme where employees can buy electric goods like laptops, tablets, T.V's etc and I'm considering getting a laptop as mine is really really slow and old now.
The ones i'm considering is a HP pavilion notebook pc 15-pl140na that's £14.26 for 36 months
and hp Pavilion notebook pc 15-p007na for £17.83.
A quick google search doesn't really find a lot of reviews and they are both significantly cheaper to buy.
Does anyone have any info on these laptops?

Pavilion are the home range of laptops. They are ok but built to a price point.
At that price it's ok but given a salary sacrifice is usually a way to waive income tax is it worth the £750 or so?
Personally I think it's not a great a deal but it may remember it's a 3 year interest free deal and there may be something like office thrown in. Microsoft office in £250 or so to buy as a standalone product, although you can get cheaper home use versions.0 -
Yeah it's quite expensive but as you say, it's an interest free loan for 3 years. Do you think the dearer one is worry the extra money? It is a touchscreen one, but apart from that I don't know?0

Only you can answer that as its how you use it and your finances, but probably not, your paying full retail price on the units form HP, and many places will be discounting them.
Probably best deciding what you want to do with it before you spend the money.0 -

Possibly, not all trusts have the HUP offer, depends if the trust paid for it at time they bought a software deal from Microsoft. I was more thinking maybe MS Office was thrown in to this deal to justify the fact it seems the laptop is being sold at full retail cost from HP,0 -
I think it just comes with 36 months warranty, 36 months internet security and back up/ wipe clean disc0

Maybe, HP is a 1 year warranty normally on Pavilion kit, the "business grade" stuff such as Elite books is typically 3 years on site warranty.
Extended warranty is nice, but depends on the cost. I get a HP discount though work (like may people will), and one review specifically mentioned the 15-p007na saying it was more expensive through the employee scheme than going to HP direct.
As I said thinking of it as a 3 year payment plan may be a reason alone to take this up, remember to think can you pay it off it you change employers for any reason next week.
Personally I'd pass, Both are OK devices but going to HP direct is expensive, have you tried taking the spec and looking at John Lewis, I suspect the NA suffix on these machines is because they are only available from HP direct so almost impossible to directly price match to any other retailer.0 -
Yeah I'm caught in two minds. Any laptop to be honest will be an improvement on mine so I wouldn't hesitate shopping around for alternatives. The 3 year payment plan is appealing And I plan to be employed by the nhs for a long time to come.
The only places I think I saw it stocked online was eBay and Very.
I would be using it for the usual things and probably football manager 2015 lol.0
