I would like to buy a tablet I am looking at the
Prestigio Visconte 10.1 inch 32GB and the
Linx 10 Windows Tablet 10.1" IPS Touch Screen Quad Core 2GB 32GB
I like the idea of having a Windows OS because I feel I know how to do stuff with windows one is £110 more would it be worth the extra or should I be looking at something else I have only chosen these two because they are in my price range and they have windows os.
To be used for watching flims, tv series via DVD and USB playing facebook games and downloaded games googling and doing email.
Although they have Office I wouldn't use it or need it.

Maplin one dont worth the money0

Don't waste your money, you may be familiar with Windows but windows 8 is different.
Better to go with an Android or iOS tablet. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
The main difference with Windows 8 is that it's designed to work much better on a tablet. (Some would say, including me, to the detriment of non-tablet users.)Don't waste your money, you may be familiar with Windows but windows 8 is different.
But since the OP wants to buy a tablet, the changes in Windows 8 are not a great reason to avoid it.
You are correct that there are some differences to learn if you haven't used Windows 8 before, and it is a change from previous versions.
The advent of cheap Windows 8 tablets like the one mentioned above (not the Maplin one!) mean they are a more credible alternative to iOS and Android now.
However if you want to run 'apps' then the Windows Store still lags behind the choice of the other two platforms, which might still be a reason to go for Android/Apple.
Personally I'd get a Windows 8 tablet because of the other Windows software that it would run.0 -
You have a point, I'm still grumbling about the £15 I spent upgrading my win 7 pc to win 8,
Have used a nexus 7 for a couple of years, but was recently lured to the dark side and got an iPad.
Of the two the iPad is faster, getting used to the differences, the iOS apps seem more polished, bit subjective though. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Oh Penrhyn, your advice is usually good but this is terrible. Just because you don't get on withWindows 8. It's great, and even better on a tablet, which OP is after.Don't waste your money, you may be familiar with Windows but windows 8 is different.
Anyway OP, there are a few 8 inch Windows tablets around, and I've also noticed that Tesco have a 7 inch one for £100. That's pretty amazing, but it's only 1GB so I wouldn't advise it.
I just got rid of a Toshiba Encore 8 which I though was great. There's also a Dell one, and an HP Stream which is cheap. No need to dive into those two, but do make sure you get 2GB RAM.
And you won't be watching any DVDs unless you plug in a USB DVD player.0 -
Sorry haven't got back sooner.
I have bought the Linx windows 8 Tablet and I think it is really great.
I bought it from Argos they are doing a bundle for £179 which includes the origami case with keyboard and up until 6th Dec you get £20 of Argos vouchers back.
I also bought from Amazon a usb hub/card reader with 3 usb slots and a card reader it makes the micro into normal size usb and the micro card reader into a normal sze card reader £11.99 hope I have made sense there. I have put in a link to explain.

I wasn't struck on windows 8 I didn't really give it that much of a chance to be fair I am probably stuck in my old ways. I installed Classic Shell and it now feels like windows 7 with a start menu etc so very happy with that.
It is fast at loading pages, we are on infinity at home I tried BT Sport it plays back well with no buffering.
The camera is not very good quality but I don't want to use it as a camera.
I have 16gb free out of 24gb.
All in all I am very pleased with it it is just like a mini laptop with all the windows features I am used to.
Oh sorry about the watching a DVD must have got carried away there lol
Thanks again for al the replies.0
