Letter & Cheque from BG re. Dual Fuel
I received a letter from British Gas yesterday saying that I am no longer eligible for dual fuel discount as I have switched supplier for electricity (I have not), attached was a cheque for £6 for the days they calculated I was entitled to. (Cheque in the wrong name as they have never managed to get my name right since getting married).
Anyway I rang the number on the letter and got through to Home Care (it was later explained the wrong phone number had been put on all the letter) so they transferred me and I got cut off after 5 mins on hold. I tried again and got through to somebody who said these letters have been sent to many customers.
She said they were investigating what had happened and asked me not to bank the cheque (I explained again I couldn't anyway as they were incapable of getting my name right!!)
Did anyone else get a letter?

Sounds like British Gas and N Power are going head to head in order to outwit each other in the incompetence department!
You couldn't make this stuff up, could you?!0 -
The fact they can't even get the phone number correct is worrying enough!
They have now updated my name though so that's something.[STRIKE]CC1: £354.35 / £354.35[/STRIKE]

There was a hiccup that has sent incorrect letters to customers especially if they have had a meter exchange. It may say the supply has left BG incorrectly like yours and give you a little money. This all came to light over the weekend so I am sure they will deal with it on Monday.Self Employed, Running my Dream Jobs0

It wouldn't be quite so bad if they let us keep the money, especially as they gave the wrong number on the letter so I wasted over half an hour calling them as they just hung up on me...
Wrong phone number, wrong name and incorrect information seems like more than a hiccup to me.[STRIKE]CC1: £354.35 / £354.35[/STRIKE]
