the Auto play pops up for USB drive and for formatted DVD or CD but not for Blank DVD or CD , and I don`t get the option to format them by right clock on the DVD drive

Any idea how to fix this please ?

  • cdr or cdrw?
normally CDs can only be written to once , however CDrw are erasable using the correct programme , however the windows format programme is not the correct one.

As above you dont format blank DVD's and CD's.

If they are RW (Readable and Re-Writable) then you format them. But does anyone use them these days?

They were a nightmare years back with everyone having to use the same software version to be able to read the data reliably.

That's not correct. You can choose to format any blank optical media within Windows 7 using the 'Universal Disk' or 'Mastered' format.

Are you sure you don't mean rewritable media only? If windows really offers to format a CD-R or DVD-R, then it certainly only pre-masters the image of the disc and only writes all data at once at the end to the actual medium.

I am actually trying to use the DVD -+R to back up my systems files and Documents, but Windows does not like it, it does not accept USB sticks either ?!,

Just use a third party solution.
