Wickes/Benchmarx back panels are only 2000mm long so you would still need two for your island. Would still look better than a load of base end panels.0

Am I reading it right the island will only be 600 deep?
Hummm, sheet of MDF, guess that can be cut to size say 2800x600?
Yes island will only be 600 deep.0 -
When we had an island, it was Ikea, three 800 drawer units, with overhang like yours, for breakfast bar. The cover panels were three sections easily fitted to match the white gloss finish.
You probably already know, but you will need leg supports for the overhang, to support it.
Also, we were REALLY glad we didnt incorporate sink or cooker into the island and just left it as one bg clear space. Have you thought of not having doing this? Keeps it MUCH eater.
Units are from IKEA but like i said we have two units, 800mm each on either side and sandwiched between them is our dishwasher and washing machine. I guess its clarfied that we dont need leg support for 300mm over hang, got worried for a second as we did not plan for the leg support.
We have to have the sink, in the island, thats what [STRIKE]we[/STRIKE], better half prefers0 -

Otherwise we have bought either base ends and plant on, or tower ends and cut down if it is more economical to get two from one.
Thanks will check with above, assume they sell them custom size?0 -

Hummm, right so length is 2000mm how about width standard or custom?
Would it not be tricky to join 2000mm and 800mm panel considering the support is only available at either end?0 -

They touch the floor. Gravity is a wonderful thing. There is also support in the form of the edge of every unit, so plenty to attach to.
You're going to struggle to find anything any wide building product in standard size over 2400mm (eg MDF) anyway.
Flank either side of the breakfast bar 300mm with 400mm wall units, or wider, used as base units if you don't want a join.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

As doozergirl correctly says, height is 870mm high so they rest on the floor, and evokit's link is a goodun as well.
Have a look in either your local Wickes or Benchmarx if you want to see them. Most showrooms have either a peninsula or island with one on the back.0
