  • They sound yummy!

Think I'm getting the beginnings of a cold so not left the house, in fact I haven't been out since I got in from work on Friday!

The friend who I mentioned last week had very bad news this week, she was told that there was nothing that could be done except for palliative treatment, so is starting chemo in January. So unfair. :(

I'm sure cancer has touched many people on this thread, I just wondered if anyone had any ideas of some little gifts I could send her r friend likes it anyway she starts chemo? I was thinking maybe a disney related ice cube tray, as she is a big disney fan and I read that chemo often makes you not want to drink but that people are advised to chomp on some bits of ice as a substitute.

    Any other ideas please?

My mum enjoyed chocolate when on chemo, if your friend likes it anyway how about some of her favorite chocs?
What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare

I am so sorry about your friend, what about a nice book and a nice smelly candle so she can have the candle burning while reading, thats if she reads?
Or some nice bubble bath to have a soak in?
Sorry your not feelig well get better soon x

Thanks, they're good ideas. She isn't local, so got to be stuff I can post fairly cheaply, but would like to send her a few things so she knows I am thinking of her.

Not actually sure what her favourites are, but a good idea!

After her hysterectomy, before she knew all about this, I sent her a massive cake instead of flowers. My Uncle sent one to be after my op this year and it was fab (he did a good job on google as he lives in the states!). I was so impressed I was waiting for an opportunity to send one to someone else!

Am so sorry to hear about your friend and you are quite right about the ice cubes. My DSis auntilala had Chemo after her mastectomy and I took care of her and do remember her feeling very sick and bad the first week after a session and really did not feel up to much at all food or drink wise ,she also did not feel up to getting dressed so I got her some nice daytime type PJ's so she was comfortable and felt respectable if she had any visitors As the chemo progressed and she started to lose her hair I got her some trendy pull on hats to wear.Hope this helps and re the candles bubbs mentioned lots of smell did make her feel sick so be careful on that one.
