kbps = kilo bits per second

KB/sec = kilo bytes per second.

1byte = 8 bits.

Why dont you connect to the same BT connection then if you get good speed you will know its a PN problem and not your equipment.

Assuming you are looking at Sync speed, rather then throughput, It is VERY unlikely to be a line fault. It is also FAIRLY unlinkely to be a modem issue (although it would be nice to know what routers/modem and firmware versions you have tried). It is also NOTHING to do with your intenal exutension wiring (as removing the faceplate disconnects it).

This leaves us to ponder the cause. IF everything you have said is true, the most likely cause is a faulty RJ11 lead or Filter. (assuming you are using a filter not an adapter). This assumes BT used their own RJ11 lead when they tested.

So first thing is to try another RJ11 lead if you haven't already.

Also tell us what routers/modems you have tried.

Also tell us where you are looking at the speed, like someone else said, just to make sure you aren't getting your units mixed up.

As for plusnet, it's easy enough to get the issue escellated if necessary.
