BB speeds at home

My fibre bb through talk talk gives me over 20meg through my phone and laptop wirelessly however through my iPad lucky to get 12 why would that b? Anything I can do?

Almost certainly not.
I've found that Wifi performance can vary between devices for no obvious reason. Presumably not all adapters are capable of working at the full speed their spec supports - all N adapters should be cabable of 20Mbps and even G can reach that.
It may even be measurement errors as you must be using different apps even if it's the same speedtest sites. If it's different speedtest sites then that is the most likely reason.
In any event 12Mbps should be plenty fast enough for anything you want to do with an iPad.0 -

Perhaps more easily, see whether moving the iPad closer to the router makes the speeds faster.0
