Do they buy for each other/you? If not why not give them a budget (and cash if necessary) and see who can come up with the silliest presents. We always had lots of dilly presents mixed in with the ordinary ones. Also we had one hideous present that went round the family for a few years, always funny as to who would get it.

Also remember they may not seem as if they are enjoying it, but if you make them good, the memories will stay with them regardless. Don't worry if they prefer to spend some time in their rooms etc it's just what they are like still that age.

    hi everyone x

I love xmas and really miss the feeling of having small children in the house at xmas....

I have 3 children 13, 17,18 and feel really sad this year because I feel the spark of xmas is slipping away :( How can I try and make it feel really fun again? putting the spark back in xmas x

Christmas 2012 was a total bust for me with DD17 just wanting to be with her BF and being grumpy.

So we had a year of austerity in 2013, saved like fiends, and we went to Walt Disney World for Christmas and New Year, had a fantastic time (and took DD's BF too!) :)

he might have a sock reindeer too...
however..perhaps not so cute as this one...after all hes going to be very bad !
and possibley with one hand stitched to a clothes peg for added positioning value....he must of course be caught nearly in the act

I havnt seen the thread but I shall have a look...;)

Try playing some minute to win it games as my older kids say they are better than any of the games we bought them as kids.anyone can take part and it's all about laughing at and with each other as well as the competitive element than ensues.just google the games and usually involves stuff you have in the house.even funnier if people have had a drink.

When we were past the kid stage (& before the grandkids came along), my mum would arm everybody with some silly string in our Christmas stockings. On Christmas morning we would have a massive silly string fight.

  • Hi everyone

I have 5 children from ages 32 to 15 years old. every year we buy a family board game and this is unwrapped on Christmas eve after our buffet tea and chaos begins. we have learnt along the way that the simpler the better (who needs books of rules) if any of your family has a decent sized screen mobile phone the game Heads up is a great one for the family its a describing/guessing game and it also videos the ones doing the describing which you can watch. there is also a young kids version for the little ones.
